Introversion forum registration confirmation questions are self-serving and hostile to new customers

Dominic Jul 15, 2018 11:39PM BST

I recently purchased Prison Architect. This is the first time I have heard of Introversion and is the limit of my knowledge. In fact, its all I care to know and need to know for my personal edification. However, in order to use the forum, I have to register. I have no problem with this whatsoever. What I do have a problem with is that, instead of asking for proof of purchase or something that would be appropriate The registration requires sorting a list of games into 'games made by introversion' and 'games not made by introversion'.

The only purpose this could possible serve is the developers trying to make new customers learn about other games from this studio. There are much better user-friendly ways to do this. A "confirmation" question (what exactly is being confirmed by such a question?) is not the right time to do so.

You made a great game in Prison Architect and so I heard about it and bought it. If your other games are so great, you don't need to market them in this way because the same will happen. OR I will enjoy Prison Architect so much I want to learn more about your company and other games.

With your current approach, it simply makes me want to request a refund as I can't access the support forum. Also, the "not a robot" checkbox on this page does a great job of "confirming" I'm not a robot without needing to know every product salesforce does or doesn't make.
